How do I reduce my photo size for a government form?
Upload your photo, pick the size limit stated on the form (often 20KB, 50KB, or 100KB), and optionally set the required dimensions (e.g. a 3x4 photo or a 140x60 signature). Why does the quality drop when compressing to 20KB?
A 20KB file can only store a limited amount of image data. To reach the target, JPEG quality is reduced and dimensions may be scaled down. Start with a sharp, well-lit, higher-resolution photo — it compresses far better than a blurry or dark one.
What DPI should my photo or signature be?
Most online portals check only pixel dimensions and file size, not DPI. If DPI does matter, target 300 DPI at print size: a 3x4 cm photo at 300 DPI is roughly 354x472 pixels, and a 2x2 inch passport photo is 600x600 pixels. Use the custom dimension fields above to match.
